I’m the first to admit I’m super picky about what horse products I use and recommend. For them to make the cut they must be safe, contain good quality ingredients (no artificial junk), and get the job done well.
I try as hard as I can to stick with products that are natural and environmentally friendly. My general rule is if I wouldn’t want to use it on myself I shouldn’t use it on my horses.
If you share these values and are looking to pick out products to help your horses stay well check out my most trusted picks below.

Jojoba oil is my go to for any type of skin issue and hair growth. It absorbs well (has similar properties to the oils that are naturally produced by the body) and doesn't leave behind any weird residue. I've used it for everything from growing out mane rubs to mixing with essential oils to clear up mystery rashes.
Eqyss hit a home run with their Premier shampoo. It leave your horse clean, their color stay rich, and because it has the correct pH their skin keeps it natural healthy oils so they stay shiny.
Sore No-More liniment products have the perfect balance of herbs to relax sore muscles without burning the horses skin. I've used the whole line for year and have gotten great feedback from horses that appreciate how soothing it is.
Micro Tek is a great option for clearing up everything from scratches to rain rot. It's gentle enough to use everywhere on your horse and is super soothing so you won't have to fight with your horse about putting it on.
Trying to find an effective detangler that isn't filled with a bunch of toxic junk has proven to be a tough task. I've tried lots of them that just didn't work well or worse made my horse's hair a greasy mess. Then I found Eqyss Survivor and it has become a grooming staple. A little goes a long way and it keeps the hair tangle free for a lot longer than others I've tried.
I love adding vitamin E oil to any of my homemade skin and hair care products because it does such a great job of helping to speed healing and stimulate growth. By choosing a product that keeps your horse's skin healthier you will find that they don't get plagues by nearly as many issues. I use it for everything from hock sores to clearing dry patches and preventing scratches during mud season.
